Value before spectacle.

A polished interface is useful only when it makes the underlying work easier to experience, understand, or maintain.

Visual quality matters. So does restraint. Styling should reveal hierarchy, improve navigation, and give the work enough room to carry its own weight.

The public site does not need every idea on the front door. The maintenance system does not need poetry between an administrator and a save button.

Use the right amount of performance for the room you are in.
